Why choose gotoTranslation for my translation work?

We are dedicated to deliver you a great translation, backed up with a friendly, attentive service, at a competitive price. In our opinion, a great translation should look and feel like it's been written by a native of the target language. As we have native speakers of both English and Brazilian Portuguese languages for translation of your work, we believe the translated work you'll receive, will reflect that. That unique benefit alone, will compare favorably in our rates we offer you against other translation services.

How can you assure me of the translation quality?

We have over 14 years of translation experience. We are committed to delivering you, a well translated job. If there is any doubt of our ability to translate proficiently, we are prepared (for non-urgent or workload permitting) to translate up to 50 words, free of charge and without obligation on your part to proceed with the translation. As further proof of our quality of service, you may also ask us to supply testimonials of past completed translation work from clients. We won't advertise past client's details here for fear of improper use and spamming but by all means, do request testimonial details. The client's details we supply have given us their consent for such a request and will be happy to answer any concerns you might have. Use our feedback form for your request and select the "testimony request" title along with any comments you have.

I've seen machine translation services … why not use them?

"Machine translation" is translation performed by a computer. As computers do not yet possess life knowledge, machine translations are not perfect. A computer does not know that "dusting" a field means putting dust on it, while "dusting" a table means taking dust off of it. Most so-called Machine Translation software really just performs dictionary look-ups and makes word-for-word replacements. Only human translators can consistently produce perfect translations of complex language. If you need a perfect translation, only a human being can assure you of getting one. We can however edit any machine translated text, should you have a need. More information about that follows regarding our proofreading service.

What about translation software?

Same basically applies as machine translation. Although the price may look reasonable and can be used indefinitely, you are going to have to hire a translator to proofread and then correct grammar and other mistakes. It will ultimately cost you more in time and money. We can however edit any text you have that has been translated by translation software. More information about that follows.

How soon can I receive the completed translation?

Depending on our workload at the time of your submission and the nature of your translation, we strive for a turnaround of 4 business days on jobs of up to 1000 words. We will proceed with jobs only when a mutually agreed delivery date has been set. Unless we notify you sooner, we pledge to refund you 10% of the total price of the original submission if we are at fault and fail to deliver on the agreed delivery time. Please build delivery times into your own calculations if you wish to receive translated work other than by any instantaneous means such as email or fax. Please note; we 'start' translating, only after confirmation of your deposit.

What about formatting?

The translated article(s) will be normally sent by MS Word format unless previously agreed. Please advise us beforehand, if you wish to have some other format, in the unlikely event we are unable to meet your needs.

What other (than translation) services do you perform?

To complement our translation service, we can offer you English language text proofreading and editing by a native of the English language. This would be ideal if you have:

  • Text that has been previously machine translated
  • Text that has been translated by some form of translation software
  • Essays, term papers, theses and any form of research paper

Do you translate other languages?

The short is answer is no. We specialize in Brazilian Portuguese and English languages. This is to your advantage so you can receive the best possible translation between these language pairs. We have however, ongoing relationships with other language translators and have recommendations listed in our translator directory.

How will I receive this translation?

Your work will be translated, fully edited and sent to you when fully ready to present and market by email, fax, post or any other fast delivery method. Other than email, the cost of other forms of delivery will be passed on to the client.

What's the translation going to cost me?

How can I pay for this translation?

You may pay by bank wire transfer, postal money order or check. Due to efficiency and your security, we prefer credit card.

We suggest payment through PayPal because we feel they represent one of the most respected, trustworthy online payment systems in the world.

It's free to open an account and send us payment with PayPal. You pay nothing extra other than our translation fee.

How then can I pay for this translation using PayPal?

What if I need alterations done to my original submission?

It will be at our discretion on how we treat additional work to your original submission but typically, alterations will be treated as new work and be chargeable at the per-word cost.

What if I'm not happy with the translation you've performed?

We are confident that you will be more than satisfied with the translated work. Our aim is to exceed your expectations. Should you not be totally satisfied with our translation, we will correct and make changes (relative to your complaints), free of charge and until we believe it has meet all reasonable standards of quality. If you are still not satisfied, beyond our efforts to 'improve' this translation, we will deduct 20% of the total price of the original work submitted, as a mark of goodwill. We will not be liable for any costs incurred if you have the submitted work, evaluated or re-translated by another party. This course of action will be at your discretion and cost. We sincerely believe this would be an unlikely event but must be mentioned for clarity.

Do you have any advice for me before submitting work for translation?

  • Keep Sentences Short
  • Avoid Ambiguous Words
  • Use Correct Punctuation
  • Use Exact Terms
  • Include Accented Characters
  • Submit work ahead of time
The more correcting we have to do in order to get your work to a point of translation, the more it will cost you. It's in your interest to submit work properly written. We will edit and format to a reasonable level until you will bear the cost of our efforts.

Are there any terms or conditions?

A deposit of at least 50% of the total cost of quoted translation work, must be paid in advance before we proceed with the translation. The outstanding balance will be due after completion of the translation and it is to your satisfaction. Please note, we will proceed translating, only after confirmation of your deposit, through our online banking system. Although this system is efficient, please allow for this small delay into your delivery deadlines. We will confirm receipt of your deposit promptly and 'start' translation immediately. You will be advised in our estimate/quotation so you will be in no doubt of any 'hidden' terms, fees or conditions.

What about my privacy of information I submit?

We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. That is why we developed a Privacy Policy. Our own privacy is important to us on the internet so we afford you the same courtesy. We maintain a strict "no spam" attitude. More information on how we collect, use and store your personal details, can be found in our privacy statement, above and at the bottom of most pages.

I'm now ready to send work for translation…now what?

Please go to our online submission form and fill out as required. We have designed a translation program that will instantly provide you an estimate, by email, based on the text you submit (the text you want translated). We will respond to your request as soon as possible and confirm estimate price and delivery. Please note; this estimate we provide you, is free of charge and is without obligation on your part to proceed with the translation. Also, the estimate you receive by email is an approximate estimate. We can only provide a final price on inspection of the text you submit for translating.
